“Visual Merchandising - The Fine Art of Display ”

Presented by Patty McCray-Roberts

Spokane Community College Bookstore, Thursday August 2nd , 9:30 am – 3:00 pm

During this NCBA Mini-Nar learn how to apply the Principles of Design to all your Merchandise Displays. Every sellable inch of floor space in General Merchandise can benefit from these principles. We will discuss the importance of Focal point, Balance, Harmony, Color and Simplicity and apply them to Store Fronts, Windows, Endcaps, 4-ways, and Shelving Gondola Aisles. Each principle will be backed with visuals from both Big Box retailers and my own use of these techniques at the North Idaho College Bookstore. Following the presentation we will put what we learned to work with a group walking tour of River Park Square  observing and critiquing the individual retail stores and their use of the design principles we just learned.
